Poker Guide

The objective of the Poker Guide is simple. We want to provide you with the best source of poker information. Poker information which is designed to improve your game, period. Our useful poker guide articles and tips should benefit all types of players, whether you’re just taking your first steps with the game or you’re already a seasoned pro. Whether you prefer online or eyeball to eyeball in a poker room at your local casino, we’re convinced that we’ll have some information here that will help you.

The authors of this site are veterans of several Las Vegas tours and can be seen regularly playing online and offline Texas Hold’em Poker tournaments here in the south of England. So we thought it would be nice to share some of that experience and knowledge. We’re also sick (like you no doubt) of all of the poker sites that have popped up designed with one thing in mind, to con you into joining a different online poker room, or make you click through to another site which makes the webmasters money.

So we’re really hoping that we keep your attention, however we do know the only way to guarantee that is by continuously adding great, informative content. So that is our number one objective. Yet, we're keen to hear from our readers. If you have a great poker story, we'd love to hear from you. Perhaps it is about an incredibly bad beat, a great tournament win or you just want to share why you love the great game of poker so much. Whatever your reason for contacting the Poker Guide, you can be sure of a friendly ear.

Until then.... let's leave you with this poker brain teaser; it's a pot limit cash game.

You've been dealt AA in mid position, you bet the pot. All players fold except the big blind who pays to see the flop. Flop comes A35 rainbow, AA has obviously hit a set and is feeling confident, yet is facing a bet of £60 from the BB. Player calls the bet, hoping to extract as much as possible from the hand, putting the BB on trip 5's at his strongest.

The turn card was a 2, BB bet the pot, which at this stage was £190.  Our player went all in which was an extra £10 on top.

Early joy turned to pain as the BB turned over his 64 suited to show his nut flush.

Did our player make the wrong play, or did the big blind just get lucky. You'll find our answer elsewhere on this site.

Best wishes from the Poker Guide.
